Ten Tigers, The History

Manda and 'M' met at kung fu class in the first year at Sussex university. They said 'Hi', swapped trousers and then discovered that they were going to be in same lectures. The first time Manda came back to 'M's room she thought Manda had stolen her Walkman. For some reason they still became friends. Over the next few months they bonded over a love of choccie, comics, sci-fi, the supernatural and music. Both grew up wanting to be Adam Ant and both hail from the South East. They devised and co-hosted the university radio show 'Red Hat No Knickers' as well as running the weekly pub quiz.

Somewhere along the way 'M' introduced Manda to CK, a guy she used to go to school with, when he actually turned up. He had been banned from the music department and had turned to maths for solice, studying at Warwick uni. They all bonded together over a love of cheap alcohol, planning for the apocalypse, and of course music. Never forget the music.

When 'M' and Manda decided to form Ten Tigers there were no plans for any other permenant members, but CK could play the guitar better than us and he thought of the name so we let him in. He soon made up for lost time by also being the first member to actually own a guitar, donated by our first drummer Mike. He then trained to be a sound engineer and landed himself a job with Goldmaster, local ska/dub/rocksteady heroes. Manda went on to study for a masters degree in Cambridge before finally seeing the light and moving house to join her band mates in sunny Essex.

Having lost Mikethedrummer Manda volunteered to learn drums for recording purposes. She began building up a kit, starting with the all-important triangle. It was clear however that she couldn't do both drums and bass live so we found someone else with an apocalypse obsession who had never played the drums before and recruited him quicksmart for the live stuff. His name is Adam and he used to own a moustache. He used to bond with Iain over their shared love of tea, but now only grazes nuts and berrys. He is in a band called The BeatRoots who are so good and popular that we hardly ever see him now.

So In a Spinal Tap stylee we then drafted in temp live drummer #2, Bongo Paul Travolta, who lives with CK and M so they can make sure he doesn't do a runner. He also cannot play the drums yet but as his name suggests he can play a mean bongo and, like all our drummers, can play far better guitar than we ever will.  In fact we enjoyed his bongo playing so much he then became an actual proper fully paid up member.  Hoorah!
